Bunyamin Aydin is the founder and creative director of Les Benjamins, a contemporary fashion label established in 2011 and based in Istanbul. The collective name ‘Les Benjamins’ celebrates diversity, referencing the fact that every language, religion, and nation has their derivative of the name Benjamin.
A veritable polymath, 26-year-old Aydin studied Business and International Relations in Geneva, Switzerland, before his personal interest in the realms of fashion, art, photography, and music prompted a return to the family business. Transforming their generations of expertise in premium jersey, he designed his own collection of printed t-shirts that has since evolved into a full ready-to-wear wardrobe for men and women. Aydin’s first designs incorporated collages linking historical imagery with modern day heroes, creating a graphic signature that remains an integral part of the Les Benjamins brand DNA – where elements of surrealism and irony celebrate an optimistic worldview.
Aydin maintains a hybrid design philosophy for Les Benjamins, creating sophisticated urban separates that explore both Eastern and Western aesthetics in unexpected combinations of digital print and artisanal textures. Likewise, a keen interest in hip-hop culture has led Aydin towards artistic collaborations with music artists including Travis Scott, Skepta, and Wiley – promoting his strong belief in the progressive, cross-disciplinary spirit of fashion today.
Today the Les Benjamins collection is sold in premium multi-label boutiques and department stores worldwide, including Browns London, Saks Fifth Avenue, La Rinascente, V-Files, Soto Berlin, and TheCorner.com.
